Taking place from January 28th to February 12th 2013, this co-production between the Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera and Gran Teatre del Liceu is being held to coincide with the 200th anniversary of composer Giuseppe Verdi's birth. La Traviata is a Paris-set tale of tragic love, telling the story of a consumptive courtesan called Violetta Valery and her affair with the young bourgeois Alfredo. The opera is sung in Italian with French and English surtitles, with each performance lasting around two hours and 40 minutes, including the intermission.
