Bol d'Or Mirabaud Race in Geneva

Event: Bol d'Or Mirabaud Race
Date: June 13th 2008

Dating back to 1939, the Bol d'Or Mirabaud Race has become a staunch institution in Switzerland - and one not to be missed by guests staying at luxury Geneva hotel Hotel d'Angleterre.

Making a breath taking sight across Lake Geneva in June will be the sails and flags of hundreds of boats and yachts as they line up to compete for the revered Bol d'Or trophy - which can be retained by the winner indefinitely if they succeed in winning it three out of five years competing.

The Bol d'Or Mirabaud Race is described by its organisers as the most important European regatta to take place on an inland lake.

Last year marked the 69th edition of the race and special celebrations took place including celebrity attendees and international cuisine such as paella and sangria.

A new starting line and rating system was also implemented in 2007 in order to increase the overall fairness of the event.

Those watching the event in June 2008 should visit nearby luxury Geneva hotel Hotel d'Angleterre to toast the champion - or their favourite competitor - after the event.
