European Heritage Days in Geneva

Event: European Heritage Days in Geneva
Date: September 2008

European Heritage Days originated in Granada, Spain, in 1985 - and so began a Monuments' Open Doors initiative throughout Europe.

This autumn in Geneva and indeed elsewhere in Europe, during the September weekends the doors of numerous monuments and sites will be opened to the public in order to promote and cultivate an interest and enjoyment in shared cultural heritage.

If you enjoying family breaks at luxury Geneva hotel Hotel d'Angleterre take a closer look at the buildings in the Suisse Romande.

According to events site What's on When, many prestigious buildings will open their doors during the European Heritage Days.

Additionally, it reports that the theme this year will be "Transport Means and Infrastructures".

"The cantons of Vaud and Geneva exhibit the best of their architectural heritage, with various buildings open to the public for two days only," What's on When notes.

Highlights are said to include the Le Corbusier trail which features modern architecture from Corseaux to Flamatt, Geneva and La Chaux de Fonds.
