Alexandre Perrier at the Musées d'Art et d'histoire Geneve

Art fans staying at the luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre next month will have the opportunity to see an exhibition showcasing the work of the influential but largely unstudied painter Alexandre Perrier.

Perrier is one of Switzerland's most eminent artists, but he has never enjoyed the acclaim bestowed on his contemporaries, namely his friends Cuno Amiet, Albert Trachsel and Ferdinand Hodler.

He made his name through his landscape paintings, which he restricted to certain settings, namely the Saleve, Lake Geneva and Le Grammot.

In his work, he sought to accurately portray the light and atmosphere of these particular locations, using a technique which deconstructed his strokes into small points and lines, which put his style right in the middle of pointillism and divisionism.

The exhibition will provide the perfect opportunity for visitors to learn more about Alexandre Perrier and the impact he had on the world of art as we know it.
