Event: AMR Jazz Festival
Date: April 23rd until 26th
Jazz, jazz and more jazz will fill the warm Geneva air in late April, with the local people swaying to the sweet sounds of the trumpet, trombone and saxophone.
The AMR (Association for Improvised Music) Jazz Festival is one of the cultural highlights of the Geneva calendar and has been a staple celebration for 27 years.
Another integral part of the magnificent city is the luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre, which promises guests all the comfort and quality one would expect from a top-class establishment.
Visitors from overseas can enjoy a trip around two museums in the days before the festival begins, as well as a buffet breakfast to fill them up prior to making their way to the Alhambar by choosing the Cultural Geneva package.
In 2009, the AMR Jazz Festival will mark its 28th birthday in style, with performances from legendary Swiss composer and drummer Beatrice Graf, the Big Band de Lausanne and the Marc Copland Trio.
Visitors can also look forward to concerts from Duo Soroya Berent, the HMB Trio and Mercadonegro, with the rich mix of artists giving this Swiss celebration a distinctly international flavour.
The AMR was founded in 1971 to promote and support all forms of improvised music, and in particular jazz and contemporary genres, meaning those in attendance are in for a feast of music which comes straight from the heart.
