Soak up the Jet d'Eau spectacle

Event: The Jet d'Eau fountain
When: Daily

The Jet d'Eau fountain in Geneva is a spectacular sight - but guests of the Hotel D'Angleterre may need to take care if they want to avoid getting soaked.

Located within view of the luxury Geneva hotel, the famous feature launches streams of water 140 metres into the air at a speed of 200km/h.

This impressive landmark always draws a crowd who marvel at the powerful spray lit up against Lake Geneva but visitors be warned, stand to close to the fountain on the Jetée des Eaux-Vives and face getting wet.

The original fountain was built in 1886 and was functional in purpose, as it provided an outlet for pressure built up in the city's hydraulic turbines. It was moved in 1891 to its current position and has been a tourist attraction ever since.

Jet d'Eau is operational throughout the year but at different times of day depending on the season, although guests of Hotel d'Angleterre can gaze out over the Rade and the fountain from the hotel's Windows restaurant.

Those who have opted for the Luxury Weekend Break can enjoy a four-course dinner in the award-winning eatery, along with Champagne on arrival and a buffet breakfast.
