Our World at War at Espace SIG

Event: Our World at War
Date: May 8th until June 30th

Life is hard for so many people in the world.

Yet thanks to organisations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), these poor souls have a glimmer of hope that the days of war and famine will one day come to an end.

A crucial part of the work the ICRC and other bodies do is to bring to the world's attention the atrocities taking place in countries from Colombia to the Philippines and mobilise support to instigate lasting change.

To highlight the suffering of so many, the ICRC has teamed up with five award-winning photographers from the VII photo agency to create a special exhibition to be shown in 40 countries across the globe.

Geneva is one of those countries, meaning guests staying at the luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre can see for themselves how people's lives are being affected by conflict and famine and the efforts taken by ordinary men and women to make a difference.

Our World at War features images from Lebanon, Afghanistan, Haiti, Colombia and Liberia among other nations and brings individual stories of loss and suffering to the forefront of the world's attention.

From families coping with displacement to communities terrorised by gang warfare, the exhibition provides a detailed snapshot into how life is for many people around the globe.

Those enjoying a weekend of Arts & Culture at the Hotel d'Angleterre can learn more about the world during their stay with free entries to two museums as part of the package, which also includes a buffet breakfast and a beautiful book of Geneva to take home.
