Art'Air at various locations

Event: Art'Air at various locations
Date: Every weekend in September

With its world-famous fountain and picturesque landscape, Geneva is a logical setting for a month-long event that challenges artists to recreate some of the Swiss city's scenes on canvas.

Described by What's on When as "the world's largest open-air painting workshop". Art'Air takes place every weekend throughout September and attracts both novice and experienced artists from far and wide.

The action kicks off at 08:00 local time every Saturday, when the painters head to one of five famous sites in Geneva - including its lake, the old town and the Ile Rousseau island, which is accessible by bridge at the mouth of Lake Geneva.

Artists toil over their creations throughout the day, which are then put on display at the Plainpalais on Sunday for the public to view, with prizes also being awarded to the best works.

Budding artists planning a stay at luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre may be able to pick up some tips by watching others at work, while a trip to the Plainpalais can be worthwhile even for those who are not passionate about art, as it hosts a flea market every Wednesday and Saturday, where all manner of antiques and curios are on offer.

Guests who book the Luxury Weekend Break package will be able to return from a day watching artists at work around the city to enjoy a four-course dinner in the hotel's Windows Restaurant, while a buffet breakfast and welcoming glass of Champagne are also included.
