Event: Suisse Romande Heritage Days at various locations
Date: Throughout September
Visitors planning a stay in Geneva will be see an array of stunning architecture during their time in the city, but it is some of the smaller buildings, hidden away in places you'll never think to check, that can be even more interesting.
However, in September, tourists and locals alike will have a chance to explore these lesser-known treasures as part of Suisse Romande Heritage Days, which is set to take place throughout the month.
According to What's on When, constructions across the Suisse Romande area will be opening their doors, with this year's event carrying the theme of 'by the water'.
Among the buildings and other structures due to be unearthed are mills, hydro-electric plants, dams, canals and bridges, with many being open for access for only a couple of days at a time.
Over 37,000 people attend the event every year and an average of 70 different sites are open for viewing, meaning guests staying at luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre who want to see a secret side to Geneva and the surrounding area will not be short of options.
Those who book the hotel's Luxury Weekend Break package will be able to return from a day touring the area's water-related structures to enjoy a four-course meal at the hotel's Windows Restaurant, while also receiving a glass of Champagne on arrival.
