15 Years of Donations at the Foundation Baur

Event: 15 Years of Donations
Date: August 19th to October 3rd

Since 1964, the Fondation Baur has been an integral part of Geneva's arts scene.

For nearly 50 years, Alfred Baur's collection of Japanese and Chinese ceramic art has been one of the highlights of the city's cultural offerings and one of the most extensive celebrations of Far Eastern art to be found anywhere in Europe.

Over the years, the museum's place at the heart of Geneva's creative world has been enhanced with various donations made by wealthy collectors and those with a passion to preserve important pieces of art.

Now, visitors to the city will have the opportunity to see various works and artefacts which have been given to the centre over the last 15 years.

The 15 Years of Donations exhibition will include a dozen examples of Chinese lacquer dating from the 14th to the 18th century, which were donated by Edward and Virginia Chow.

In addition, visitors will have the chance to see a Japanese screen from the Edo period, decorative jades from the Qing era, various Asian textiles and 91 delicate Chinese porcelains, all of which were donated by collectors and art enthusiasts.

It promises to be a wonderful insight into Far Eastern art, showing how it has evolved over centuries to become what it is today.

Yet there is a way of making the experience an even more memorable one.

If couples want a weekend away which allows them to explore Geneva's rich artistic heritage then they can enjoy that while staying in one of the finest hotels in Europe.

The luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre is the perfect choice for those who want to immerse themselves in the city's cultural scene.

Guests who book the Arts and Culture package can look forward to a buffet breakfast, a beautiful book of the city to take home with them and a pair of tickets to two of Geneva's other museums, including the Natural History Museum and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art among others.
