Corot in Switzerland at the Les Musees d'art et d'histoire

Event: Corot in Switzerland at the Les Musees d'art et d'histoire
Date: September 24th to January 9th 2011

French landscape painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot has influenced countless artists with the depictions of scenery in various countries he created during his lifetime.

The painter, who died in 1875, is renowned for the work he produced while in Italy, but some of his lesser-known pieces painted in Switzerland are set to go on display at a museum in Geneva.

According to Les Musees d'art et d'histoire, Switzerland was the country he visited the most during his career, having stopped in Geneva in 1825 while on his way to Rome.

Corot had a strong attachment to the country due to his family origins, with the museum noting his mother was born in Fribourg before moving to France later in life.

Many of the works set to go on show in the exhibit - which begins on September 24th and runs until January 9th 2011 - may have never been seen together before, as some have been loaned from public and private collections around Switzerland in recognition of the centenary of the art institution.

Guests staying at luxury Geneva hotel the Hotel d'Angleterre will be just a short distance away from the museum and those who book the Luxury Weekend Break package will be able to enjoy a four-course dinner at the Windows Restaurant after returning from the exhibit.

In addition, they will also receive a complimentary glass of Champagne in their room on arrival and a buffet breakfast each morning.ADNFCR-596-ID-19909719-ADNFCR
