Geneva is blessed with a wealth of wonderful restaurants – but the choice is so extensive that visitors can find it overwhelming. Six members of the Hotel d’Angleterre team share their own favourites with you to whet your appetite.

Le Flacon in Carouge (1* michelin)

Le Flacon is a relatively new restaurant, opened in 2013, serves some astonishing dishes where the remarkable flavors of the simple ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves. You rediscover the original taste and texture in ways that fully awaken your senses.

The team here is young and dynamic, demonstrating a huge passion for everything they do, from the quality of the cuisine to the warmth of the hospitality. Creating a wonderful atmosphere, enhanced by their open kitchen.

What’s more, it provides outstanding value for money – you won’t find Michelin-starred gastronomy at this price anywhere else in Geneva. Hands down the best restaurant I can recommend!

Le Bistrot du Boucher

I particularly appreciate Le Bistrot du Boucher for the quality of the meat, my favourite being their foie gras and their bone marrow, as well as their famous veal cutlet accompanied by their homemade risotto. They also have an exceptional dessert trolley, with a succulent chocolate terrine that I choose on about two visits out of three.

Great choice of wines, with a nice selection of Bordeaux. I love the twentieth century decoration with the art-deco verriere, as well as the manager’s charismatic welcome. I also like the fact that the service is fast, but not rushed, as I do not like sitting for hours at the table.

The Windows Restaurant, Hotel d’Angleterre

I especially love it for my frequent client and business meetings, as the setting at Windows Restaurant is perfect: warm, discreet and chic. The service is always welcoming and very personal.

You have a spectacular view over the Lake Geneva and the stunning surrounding mountains- at any time of the day, whether it be at the sun-rise, during lunch time, or during the sunset, you’re in for a beautiful show of colors.

The food is delicious while remaining simple, made with the finest auhentic and seasonal products.

Ten minutes away from the city center, I believe The Cheval Blanc is one of the best restaurants in Geneva for an enjoyable dinner or special occasion. I am very particular when it comes to service, but here the hospitality is perfect- very welcoming, friendly and personal, nothing you ask for is too much of an inconvenience or bother.

The ingredients are of very high quality and so fresh – whether you dine there in the autumn during the truffle season or in the spring with their wide selection of morel-based specialties, this is the place to go! The restaurant is often full, so it’s advisable to book a table in advance.

In the summer it’s especially nice on their beautiful romantic, Italian-style terrace.

Semplice, Old Town Geneva

The owner, Dario, is well known around Geneva, and creates a chic and modern atmosphere – very welcoming, but with a light touch. The interior of Semplice is artistic, stylish, romantic, the cuisine traditional Italian – simple but delicious.

The chef works with fresh and authentic products of exceptional quality, sourced from local farmers and producers. For some dishes, requiring special ingredients, he goes straight to Italy.

There is a good selection of wines and the prices are very reasonable for cuisine of such quality.
