A Guide to the 16th Indian Festival in Geneva

 
 

For the 16th year, Windows Restaurant will host its much loved Indian Food Festival which runs from the end of July to the end of August.

Hotel d'Angleterre

An annual tradition at Windows Restaurant at Hotel d’Angleterre, the Indian Festival brings an authentic taste of the subcontinent to the heart of Geneva. Now in its 16th year, the festival will run from 23rd July–25th August 2018, when Michelin-starred Chef Alfred Prasad will be serving his acclaimed Indian dishes to diners. Expect an Indian-inspired version of the hotel’s famous Sunday Brunch as well as a la carte offerings and business lunch menus, with many recipes prepared in the traditional Tandoor oven and plenty of appetising vegetarian options.

Geneva Festival

Born in Wardha in India, Prasad trained in renowned restaurants such as Bukhara in Delhi before joining the acclaimed Tamarind in London’s Mayfair. Within a year of his arrival at Tamarind, Prasad had become the youngest Indian chef to be awarded a Michelin star, at just 29 years old. Moreover, he also masterminded the launch of several more Indian restaurants including Imli Street and Zaika of Kensington, as well as Tamarind’s Californian outpost. A supremely talented chef, Prasad is also a committed charity activist, campaigning against issues such as poverty and food waste. He has cycled over 250 miles across Rajasthan in five days to raise money for Action Against Hunger. Joining a group of prominent food industry figures, the team raised over £120,000 for the cause which helps provide struggling communities with sustainability and development programmes.

Geneva Festival

Passionate about the wonderful variety of Indian cuisine, Prasad will be serving a tantalising and diverse menu of regional dishes to guests dining at Windows during his residency. The chef’s most famous dishes include the supremely comforting and perfectly spiced Dal Makhani, alongside roasted lamb and inventive desserts like ginger and fennel ice cream.



11th August is set to be a highlight of the 5 week-long event as, to coincide with the Geneva Fireworks, the chef will create a gourmet tasting menu that’s set to be an explosion of aromatic flavours. Diners will have the opportunity to enjoy the Geneva Fireworks from a prime vantage point directly overlooking the Jet d’Eau, whilst feasting on the fine Indian flavours of Hotel d’Angleterre’s 16th Indian Festival.
