Interested in contemporary ceramics? Every two years, the Museum of Carouge holds a ceramics competition designed around a central theme and showcases all the creative, innovative entries from international and Swiss artists; this year’s task is to design and create a ceramic lamp.

Guaranteed to be one of the more unusual events in Geneva this autumn, the Equestrian Show Academy is a performance of equestrian ballet, which includes fencing, dance, and Kyudo (Japanese archery).

Rapturous and terrifying images of heaven and hell are the focus of the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire’s exhibition, which features drawings by Dürer and Hans Holbein, to name but a few.

Celebrated every year, the Fete de l’Escalade is one of the oldest events in Geneva. Commemorating the city’s successful opposition to invasion back in 1602, modern city dwellers spend the weekend in jolly revelry, with bonfires, parades, re-enactments and more.

The biggest race of its kind in the world, the annual Christmas swimming cup in Geneva sees hundreds of swimmers jump into Lake Geneva to compete in the race. A great excuse to get in to the Christmas spirit, dress up warm and cheer the swimmers on from the shore.

Christmas may be over, but the fun’s just beginning in Geneva. For two weeks every year, the Antigel Festival (or Antifreeze Festival) gets the city up and moving with a massive roster of dance, concerts and events.
