Presided over by charismatic General Manager Jérémie Laurent, the hotel offers a range of sumptuous, individually styled rooms and suites, all bedecked in exquisite art and elegant furnishings and complemented by marble-lined bathrooms. Elegantly poised at the edge of Lake Leman with magnificent views of the famous Jet d’Eau and Mont Blanc, this beautiful boutique hotel showcases British charm and character with the finest of Swiss hospitality.
Built in 1872, the hotel is a true city landmark, with an impressive facade designed by celebrated architect Anthony Krafft. Not only is Hotel d’Angleterre famous for its refined style and generous service, but our pedigree means we are also proud to have some of the longest-serving members of staff; one member of our concierge team was with us for 42 years.
Every one of our team members is empowered to make a real difference, offering remarkably considerate service and discrete attention to detail. From freshly-cut flowers in the suites to personalised gifts for special occasions, it is no surprise that guests often remember the names of our staff and ask after them when they return.
Hotel d’Angleterre is a proud part of the family-owned and run The Red Carnation Hotel Collection. We are deeply proud of the hotel’s history, both as one of the first hotels in Geneva, and as the city’s only luxury boutique hotel.
We are proud to be part of the world of Red Carnation Hotels, where luxury meets warmth and every detail is thoughtfully designed. In this video, you'll see how each hotel is uniquely styled, from historic charm to contemporary elegance, and discover the personalised experiences that make guests feel at home.
We pride ourselves on our local relationships, and carefully design memorable experiences for guests. From sourcing culinary experiences to historic tours, our knowledgeable concierge team ensures every stay is as seamless and personalised as possible.
Guests soak in panoramic lake vistas while dining on seasonal, ingredient-led cuisine shaped by the grill at Le 17 restaurant; sip single malts and hand-crafted cocktails while revelling in the nightly live music in Leopard Bar (which happens to be one of the city’s most popular night-time venues), and quietly relax with a Cohiba in the hotel’s plush, smoke-free cigar lounge.
"Originally built in 1872, Hotel d’Angleterre has proudly celebrated more than 150 years of refined Swiss hospitality. Over the decades, we have welcomed presidents, ministers, ambassadors and international artists — and today we continue to curate exceptional stays for discerning travellers seeking the very best of Geneva on the shores of Lake Geneva.
The hotel joined Red Carnation Hotels in 2001, adding a distinguished Swiss address to this renowned collection. I am immensely proud to work alongside team members who have been part of our story for over 30 years. At reception, it is not unusual to hear guests and colleagues greeting one another by their first names — a reflection of the genuine warmth and sense of belonging that define our hotel.
Le 17 restaurant brings an elegant touch, celebrated for its renowned Afternoon Tea and refined signature dishes crafted with the finest locally sourced ingredients. Excellence is not an aspiration here — it is our standard.
One of my favourite moments is accompanying guests to the rooftop at sunset, where Geneva reveals itself in all its beauty and the Mont Blanc turns into a magnificient pink, before continuing the evening at the Leopard Bar — without question one of the true “places to be” in the city.
Our prime location, directly facing the iconic Jet d’Eau, places the very best of Geneva at your doorstep. A short boat ride connects you to the city centre, where you can admire the famous Flower Clock, wander through the Old Town, or visit the remarkable Patek Philippe Museum. We are equally proud to offer signature experiences, from an exclusive watchmaking lesson to create your own timepiece, to curated day trips to charming destinations such as Yvoire, Gruyères, and Lausanne."
